who should refrain from bikram yoga?

  • If you have a fever
  • If you have recently undergone chemotherapy
  • ​If you are pregnant and not already a practising Bikram yogi
  • If you are fasting
  • ​If you are doing any intense detox program​

​Please consult your doctor if you have any doubts about practising, you may also talk with your certified teacher before the session. Bikram yoga should be challenging to all yogis but don't take any risks where your health is concerned, always consult a doctor.

Bikram yoga is a powerful cardiovascular workout. The combination of 40deg heat, 40% humidity and the 26 postures raise the heart rate. It is very challenging and with regular participation will help build up muscle tone, stamina, strength and aid in weight loss and increase your 'core' strength.

Can I practise Bikram yoga with asthma?

  • Yes. Many of the postures help with asthmatic symptoms. Bring your inhaler to class.

Can I practise Bikram yoga whilst pregnant? 

  • We ask that you refrain from practising during the 1st trimester if already practising . For newbies we suggest you hold off until 8 weeks after the birth of your child.

Can I practise Bikram yoga with high blood pressure

  • We ask that you refrain from practising Bikram until you have consulted with your doctor. Then please notify your teacher, who is a certified instructor and can advise you on how to proceed with certain postures.

Can I practise Bikram yoga with a heart condition

  • We advise anyone with a known heart condition to consult with their doctor before coming to their first session, and bring a doctors certificate stating their agreement in your participation​.
