Newbie yogis


We actively encourage all newbie yogis. We want to spread the Bikram benefits far and wide! We are all unique both physically and mentally so each of us will find, in Bikram Yoga a different experience. Here are some helpful pointers......


  • You may find the class and heat difficult to begin with, this is perfectly normal. We ask that for your first class you stay in the studio for the full 90 min session.
  • ​If you feel faint, dizzy or sick, please lie down and try to hydrate, this will pass.
  • ​Please wear appropriate breathable tight fitting clothing. Avoid baggy clothing.
  • ​​Bring water (1.5ltr) bottle, although this can be purchased at the studio.
  • Bring your own towels (x2), again these can be rented at the studio.
  • Yoga mats can be rented if you don't have your own.
  • ​Avoid alcohol 24hrs prior to your first session.
  • Hydrate, drink plenty of water before as you will be sweating and good hydration is a must. Electrolytes and coconut water are available for purchase to aid with this.
  • ​Don't come to the session on a full stomach.
  • ​Please advise your instructor of any health conditions or injuries before your session and complete the waiver form.


It can take a few sessions to 'acclimatise' to the Hotbox studio, generally 3-4 sessions over a 2 week period will suffice for your body to adjust to the initial opening up and detoxification stage. After this you should start to feel and see the benefits of Bikram Yoga.
